As an artist who also works with traditional pencils and having recently around Christmas Time had a class in college that demanded I use it more. I have to say I personally know what its like to do hair with those strands. While it is hard, it is a lovely reward and I feel she had alot of fun with this work.

I think this is one of the nicer pencil drawing that you have done, you can tell you wanted to do this for you and you really pulled it off.

I looked only briefly at the dolls, but this wonderful and well done and I love her Seashells........how has no one noticed this? Or commented in the critiques. The way the light hits her collarbone and dots her shoulder is fabulously lined up with her hair highlights and is actually quite right. One thing I do agree with is that curl that you see ending just by her seashells should have had more lighting, not just near the shell but on the other side, because thats where the light is hitting.

I love the tinge of pink though I in my tired state failed to notice it until I read critiques! LOL OOPS!

Fantastic piece adn I love her lips, the shinies on her cheek make her seem more doll like and while someone said it was a slightly stiff piece I don't agree. You're drawing her in a style of a doll they are stiffer and plastic or whatever they're made from. My point is fantastic job!

This is the first full on critique I have given, so I'll be as honest as possible and give the best I have to offer.

Truly a lovely piece, the artist captures the character Ariel of Disney's The Little Mermaid in a new light, in the styling of the ever sweet face of Volks Dollfies. An inspired piece indeed.

The sepia coloring and glistening highlights really add to the drawing's charm, especially the hint of pink in the cheeks, of which gives this drawing more life. Though the highlight on the curled hair seems a bit missplaced. Because of that it throws off my sense of wear exactly the lighting should be. If it was lowered and curved more on the curl where it tapers toward the larger part a little more I think would do the trick. The softness of the hair is a feat in which the artist has drawn in each strand of hair stroke by stroke. But although soft and appealing, it seems a bit stiff, save for the hair flowing outward from the right hand side. Though this could just be the initial style of the artist.

Facially she captured the essence of the dolls iconic face, with the wide set eyes, long eyelashes and the open mouthed (almost pouty) lips, As well as the sweet little nose. However upon looking closely, the nose seems a tad to far to the right, the depth perception seems off on it, but (only) upon longer viewing of the beauteous image. Even so she did the styling of the Volk's dolls justice.

In terms of originality. The over all idea is capital, who wouldn't want an Ariel doll in the Dollfie style? The first to draw a Disney character in the style of a Dollfie (to my knowledge), but not the first to attempt the overall style.

Her technique is wonderful as she is skilled in her pencil work and effective photoshop skills. In which this technique is widely considered one of her best (if not the best) skills.

When it comes to impact, although the style and idea of it all is top notch and quite lovely, it's nothing that evokes my emotions beyond that it's "A beautiful picture to look at" I'd love to have this framed on my wall for casual viewing purposes, but I find no deep feeling that resonates when I see this. It's simply put, a lovely piece of art. Something anyone can look at and say "That is lovely".

A truly beautiful piece.

Wow the sepia tone on this is beautiful! You really converted Ariel to the doll-style very, very well! I love her little nose, especially. The face looks gorgeous!

As for critique, well... unfortunately I really can't offer much. I'm in awe, after all. The one thing that I'd be able to critique is her waist, and that's really stretching it.

I am totally adding this to my faves. Great job! :D
